MOSCOW - The intensity of a powerful earthquake that rocked the southeastern part of Siberia on Tuesday reached 9.5, Russian Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a teleconference in the early hours of Wednesday.

"The earthquake's intensity in the epicenter has been estimated at 9.5. The main threat will come tomorrow morning. As soon as the people wake up, they will see cracks in the walls, stoves, and chimneys," he said.
“地震在震中的強度已被估計為9.5級，主要的威脅將於明天早上來到，當人們醒來，他們將看到在牆上、火爐和煙囪的裂縫，”他說。
It was reported earlier that an earthquake reaching 8-9 in the epicenter had been recorded in the Kaa-Khemsky district of Tyva 100 kilometers east of Kyzyl at a depth of 10 kilometers at 7:22 p.m. Moscow time on Tuesday.

The earthquake's magnitude reached 6.7. The tremors were felt in Tyva, Khakasia, the Krasnoyarsk territory and the Irkutsk region.

Preliminary reports indicate that the quake did not cause casualties and significant destruction.

當局擔心有餘震，呼籲震區部份居民暫時離開家園；有礦工要緊急疏散。
美國地質勘探局表示，這次地震的震央，位於西伯利亞接近蒙古邊境，強度6.6級。
本港天文台亦錄得這次地震，強度是6.5級；內地錄得強度是7級。

..俄羅斯西伯利亞西南部發生黎克特制六點七級地震，超過三十座多層建築物損毀，並無造成傷亡。當局說，一間學校及一間提供熱水及暖氣的廠房出現裂痕，三千五百人暫時安排在庇護中心。區內一座煤礦一度疏散員工，其後恢復生產。
